Philadelphia Independent Film Festival: Quick Picks June 25 – 29
The Philadelphia Independent Film Festival (#PIFF @PhilaIndie) is in it’s 7th year of “showcasing a unique cinematic experience unrestrained by conventional boundaries”. The festival (hatched in 2007 out of the mediabureau.com film initiative) – annually programs 80+ films across 12 genres and produces or sponsors on average 6 film events a year. Last year, I did a little blogging for the festival and during the year kept in touch with two of the awesome programmers – James E D Keating & Melissa O’Donnell. Melissa is also an actress on the rise, who works with various directors on many Philly film sets, one such project will be screened during PIFF –…

Philly Spotlight: IHOUSE BRAZILIAN BARBECUE Recap
This past Saturday I was invited to partake of a Brazilian BBQ at International House Philadelphia @ihousephilly – what I love even more than smoked and seasoned meats, is the fact that now that I live in West Philly, IHouse (37th & Chestnut Streets) is part of my neighborhood! Every year the IHouse Board chooses a country to celebrate with a series of events. This year in honor of The 2014 FIFA World Cup they chose Brazil. Food in Film: CHEF
It’s fantastic for my brand when I get to cover a Foodie Film. For years I’ve been saying I’m going to go back and re-watch movies like Big Night, Chocolate, Soul Food and others and write about them so they exist on Tinsel & Tine, still, some how, I’ve yet to get around to it. Not the case with Jon Favreau’s (writer, director, lead) succulent new film Chef this one’s on my front burner. I’ve gotten a chance to see it twice already! What’s great is, the second screening proved to me I really do love the film on its own merit, and not because it’s a foodie movie, or because I took…

Cut Print Film: GODZILLA
I got to virtually meet a fellow Philly film writer this week! Jeff Rollins of the awesome site Cut Print Film, their site design is so contemporary, it really make me want to redesign T&T. We got to talking and decided it would be cool to do a cross promotion of each others sites. CPF did a fantastic job of promoting my Belle post and I’m super happy to post their Godzilla review! It’s everything I wanted to say about the movie, yet now I don’t have to write it: By Chris Evangelista Godzilla arrives with all the fanfare and hype possible for the King of the Monsters. Essentially…
