Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival Gets FOODIE (Nov 13 – 22, 2014)
I’m still finished publishing my Part 2 & 3 of the Philadelphia Film Festival Recap, but I’m still gonna try to catch some of the Philadelphia Asian American Film Festival running November 12 -22, 2014 which is about celebrating and elevating the Asian American experience. Since 2008 PAAFF is proud to have presented dozens of culturally relevant films and exciting programming to broad and diverse audiences from Chinatown to Center City to University City. I’m particularly interested in their Foodie Film Series PAAFF EATS: Thurs 11/13 6:30pm – Documentary Program FAMILY INGREDIENTS – Join host Chef Ed Kenney as he travels the path of ancestors, from Hawaii to the homeland in…

Blog Contributor: MEN, WOMEN & CHILDREN
I’m a fan of Jason Reitman’s films: Thank You for Smoking (2006) Juno (2007) Up in the Air (2009) Young Adult (2011) Labor Day (2013) there’s always a bit of melancholy mixed with subtle humor and a side of social commentary not far beneath the surface. So I’m not really sure why I haven’t made a point yet to see Men, Women & Children, although, The Rotten Tomatoes meter reading is 23 critics / 53 audience, which makes me think, no rush, see it eventually on Netflix. The pacing is good (Directed by Miguel Arteta / Screenplay by Rob Lieber), but it’s not really a zany movie – even though, a series of No Good, Very Bad things do happen to the Cooper family, on one, incredibly long, very full day.…

NO GOOD DEED – Surprisingly Goes Unpunished
Box Office: “No Good Deed” Tops “Dolphin Tale 2” With $24.5 Million The Sony/Screen Gems thriller (No Good Deed) took in $24.5 million from 2,175 theaters, easily beating expectations. Going into the weekend, analysts expected the home invasion thriller to hover around $20 million. Henson and Idris Elba are very talented actors, plus I admire Will Packer’s success as a Producer and most importantly, seeing black actors in mainstream movies that have nothing to do…
