In a Marriage: 45 YEARS
A Highlight of the British Dramatic Film – 45 Years By Tinsel & Tine Editor, Le Anne Lindsay I wanna change my prediction on my Oscar ballot. At the end of my 73rd Golden Globes post, I included links to ballots for the upcoming Oscars – one based on Who I Want to Win the Academy Award and one based on Who I Think Will Win. I chose Brie Larson (Room) for who I’d like to win and Cate Blanchett (Carol) for who I think will win, but I want to change that to Charlotte Rampling for Kate Mercer in 45 YEARS. Not only is her performance in this film…

A Revlock Review: THE REVENANT
Visceral Approach to Filmmaking: The Revenant By Tinsel & Tine Contributor Mikhail Revlock The plot of THE REVENANT does not benefit from summarization. It’s 1823. A band of trappers and hunters are wandering about the Louisiana Purchase when they get ambushed by a tribe of Arikara Indians. Half of them survive. Hawk (Forrest Goodluck), his half-breed son, is never far from his side. John Fitzgerald (Tom Hardy) sees them conferring in Pawnee and assumes they were involved in the attack. Glass gets mauled by a bear.…

Tinsel & Tine Editor Le Anne Lindsay Intro: I met Rorie Still last March at the International Women’s Day Celebration (click for post) held at Cynwyd Station Cafe and Tea Room, and as is always the case in Philly, we discovered we knew a lot of the same people and have gotten together to chat a time or two. Rorie has written a compilation of Sci-Fi/Fantasy stories called Flashbang: Sci-Fi Stories That Will Blow Your Mind , which I’ve been wanting to read, but when I turned 40 my brain stopped being able to read anything but articles, blog posts and research. It’s awful – both my sisters have written books, they’re…

David O. Russell’s 8th Movie: JOY
Red Wine on Teak Floors = “Joy” By Le Anne Lindsay, Tinsel & Tine Editor The first thing I liked about JOY, David O. Russell’s latest vehicle starring Jennifer Lawrence, was the trailer. It gave very little away, you knew the protagonist lived with her entire family, including an ex-husband and that she wants them to get behind her on an idea to hopefully get them out of low economic circumstances, but that’s it. The rest of the images could take the story in many different directions, so you walk into the movie, open for anything. I’ve read some of the criticism of “Joy”, most critics feel…
