    INDEPENDENTLENS Inside Indies

    October 4, 2009 /

[PLEASE SCROLL BELOW THIS POSTING IF YOU ARE VISITING TO WRITE A REVIEW OF FRENCH KISSERS] The great thing about this blog is that I learn more and more about what’s going on in Film everyday. This is a fun journey for me, because in no way do I profess to be a film buff or a cinephile. I’m learning to be “on the job” so to speak. For instance, I wasn’t aware that PBS has an award-winning series Independent Lens, that showcases a myriad of indie films and documentaries each season. And that these films are screened (FREE) in Philadelphia (locations vary) through Community Cinema. Independent Lens website also features…

    “French Kisser ” Reviews?

    October 1, 2009 /

As a member of the Host Committee for Philadelphia Cinema Alliance’s new French Film Series – La Cinematheque, I created marketing e-blasts, worked the phones, worked the box office, and agreed to be a temporary “Girl Friday”, but the one thing I didn’t get to do, much to my displeasure, was actually SEE THE FILM! For a new series without much lead time, the attendance was pleasing. A crepe concessions, by La Creperie was substituted for the original Food and Film french buffet, I may have missed the film, but I made it my mission to steal a minute to sample the Gâteau de Crêpe au Jambon (Ham, Swiss Cheese,…

18 1/2 Philadelphia Film Festival Highlights

    September 30, 2009 /

Because this is an equal opportunity Film (and Food) blog. I’m not going to ignore the fact that the Philadelphia Film Society is producing the 18 1/2 Philadelphia Film Festival, even though I have ties to the original producers of The original Philadelphia Film Festival, which is now called CineFest under The Philadelphia Cinema Alliance. Confused? Well, the reason the Film Society is calling it 18 1/2 is because they co-produced last April’s CineFest 09 as an agreement with PCA before the final split. So, basically, Philadelphia is lucky enough to have two 501c3 film companies vying for the same grants and audience! Have you picked a side? The PFF…

    ODE TO GUIDING LIGHT

    September 19, 2009 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Tinsel & Tine Editor and #1 GL Fan Now readers, if you’ve never watched this Soap Opera or any for that matter, than please forgive me for going off the track of Film and Food. But I felt I owed a place of honor on my blog to this television institution which showed its very last episode on September 18, 2009 after 72 years of being on the air. Sadly, Guiding Light was so much apart of my formative years, that I feel I have more memories of these characters, than I do of my own life. I started watching ever so faithfully, when I was…
