Candi’s Corner: THE PERKS OF BEING A WALLFLOWER

    November 7, 2012 /

I met a lovely, fun, bright freelance writer named Candace Cordelia Smith at the BlackStar Film Festival, so I asked her if she’d be interested in guest blogging for Tinsel & Tine… And here’s her first post! When I first read “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”, I finished the book in one day within a span of seven hours. I don’t remember the last time I’ve read a book from beginning to end, having to run to the bathroom afterwards to wash my face from crying. As a result, I had to see Stephen Chbosky’s film adaptation of his book, more now than ever after reading it first. I…

    November 3, 2012 /

This is Part II of Tinsel & Tine’s 21st Philadelphia Film Festival Recap &  Reviews. Hope you had or will have a chance to check out Part I. This year, a nice addition to the going’s on, was the VIP Bar located at 110 Chestnut Street. Pass holders, filmmakers and staff were invited to hang out between screenings and enjoy sponsored events by: Alma de Cuba, Empson USA, Tony Lukes, Barefoot Wines & Bubbly & Bourbon Blue. David Bentley with PFS Blogger Ben Silverio I had a nice chat with David Bentley, wine rep with Empson USA. You know how wine connoisseurs will say, this was a good year or…

21st Annual Philadelphia Film Festival Coverage (Part I)

    October 30, 2012 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor I think I may have seen less films this year than any previous.  it wasn’t so much my day job that interfered, which by the way, generously let me come in 2 hrs late for work a couple of days during the festival.  No, this year, I didn’t count on my new relationship being affected by my film festival-ing or vice versa. If you’re a regular reader, you will have seen recent posts where I’ve mentioned my new boyfriend James – he wrote the Argo review, and one on the Gotti movies; I mentioned him in a few other posts and I’m in the midst…

PFF21: SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK w/ David O. Russell Red Carpet Photos

    October 27, 2012 /

21st Philadelphia Film Festival Opening Red Carpet with David O. Russell, director of “Silver Linings Playbook” and Matthew Quick, author of the same entitled book. All day Thursday, October 18, 2012, I was feeling out-of-sorts and low on energy, but all that seemed to disappear the moment I stepped up to the press bullpen to take red carpet photos at the Opening of the 21st Philadelphia Film Festival, featuring the opening film – Silver Linings Playbook. Director David O. Russell (The Fighter) was the prime red carpet target, along with the author of the book “Silver Linings Playbook” Matthew Quick. The others pics are of local actors (Brea Bee, Vaughn…

Collaborate Philly Features: Tinsel & Tine (Why I started blogging)

    October 26, 2012 /

I did a profile piece on the new Philadelphia based Social Media Site Collaborate Philly (click for post) in August, and now they’ve returned the favor and interviewed me about Tinsel & Tine … For the fourth installment of our spotlight on local websites series, we decided to feature local film and food website Tinsel & Tine founded by Le Anne Lindsay. Philly has a great film community. And as Katie Briggs talked about in our last installment, Philly is also a foodie town, too. It only makes sense to come across a site, which happily marries the two. And when I say “happily” I mean happily. Le Anne loves what…
