Quick Review: Peter Brook’s THE SUIT in Philly & Brûlée Catering

    February 28, 2014 /

The Prince Music Theater (15th & Chestnut) presents Tony Award-winning director, Peter Brook’s production of The Suit running February 26 thru March 8, 2014.   When I did a Wiki on Brook, I was blown away by this man’s prolific career in the theater. He has practically done a production a year, spanning 1950 to 2014! I got to attend opening night of The Suit, making the curtain by the skin of my teeth. If you go, don’t be late, the show is a tight 75 minutes, no intermission and no late seating. Other than knowing this play was set in South Africa, I deliberately went with very little prior knowledge…

Philly Magazine/ Foobooz – Philly Cooks RECAP

    February 24, 2014 /

So if you follow me on social media at all, you will have noticed I created a mini campaign leading up to Foobooz | Philadelphia Magazine’s Philly Cooks event, which sold out!  The event was held Wed 2/19 at The Marriott Hotel at 12th & Market Sts. I’m glad I got the opportunity to market this event as there are so many restaurants in Philly I know nothing about, many of which participated in Philly Cooks; this way, I got a chance to at least get a glimpse into their specialties and restaurant backgrounds. GM Ryan Fenton, Pennsylvania 6 For instance Pennsylvania 6, takes it’s name from the oldest telephone…

Guest Blogger: Morgan’s Tips on Hosting an Oscar Party

    February 22, 2014 /

3/3  POST UPDATE – SOCIAL MEDIA HIGHLIGHTS 86 ACADEMY AWARDS (OSCARS 2014)   I have intentions of throwing a great Oscar party one year, not ready for that kind of planning and expense this year, but hopefully before the Oscars turn 100 🙂 For now, I prefer the relaxed fun of throwing a virtual online social media party, where everyone provides their own party food in the relative comfort of their own homes, but we can share pictures and comments back and forth during the red carpet and 86th Annual Academy Awards – hosted by Ellen DeGeneres! Check out past Tinsel & Tine Oscar Coverage- 85th Oscars / 84th Oscars…

    A Quickie: ABOUT LAST NIGHT

    February 15, 2014 /

It’s Valentine’s Day and once again I’m spending it alone.  I’m not bitter, certainly used to it; but I’m also not in the mood to write a really in depth review on a movie about sex and relationships.  Even though the relationships throughout About Last Night are rocky at best, but at least both couples are GETT’N SOME! So in short,  I’ve never seen the original, About Last Night with Demi Moore and Rob Lowe, but I did find someone who took the time to write a transcript of that version –Drew’s Script-O-Rama (which I thought was funny). I’ve never read the David Mamet play which both movies are based upon.…

Magic in the Wrong Hands: WINTER’S TALE

    February 14, 2014 /

If there are two things I love more than film and food, it’s magic and romance. There is a part of me that truly believes when I finally take the time to commit to it, I have a book inside me to rival the stories of King Arthur and Camelot, Star Wars, Romeo and Juliet, Gone with the Wind, and Harry Potter.  A story with the perfect blend of symbolic spirituality and philosophical universalism, a story that brings alive the most alluring star crossed lovers who find each other throughout time and space.  A messages that touches the most cynical of hearts and is just damn good fun to…
