    Philly Restaurant: Fitler Dining Room

    May 9, 2014 /

Photo: Foobooz Yes, it’s true, I do love comfort food and diners and Harrahs Casino buffet, but that doesn’t mean I don’t appreciate upscale, trendy dining and I know those two adjectives = $$$. I also know you shouldn’t just walk up on a small, boutique type dining establishment when you’re looking to just catch a bite to eat; these types of restaurants are for a dining experience of at least two courses.  However, because we wanted to dine alfresco and happened to be in the vicinity of Filter Dining Room (owned by Pub & Kitchen’s Dan Clark & Ed Hackett) and saw open tables outside, we decided to stop…

Blog Contributor Monique: LOCKE (Tom Hardy

    May 9, 2014 /

by Monique Steans I was really glad to get the assignment to see LOCKE, as it had been on my Indie film radar for sometime. TOM HARDY’S character Ivan Locke, centers around an emotionally tortured man who on the outside seems calmbut on the inside is falling apart at the seams. The film was shot entirely in a car, in London with a singular character, Locke, interacting on the phone with those in his life, it’s an interesting journey. I couldn’t help but feel an emotional connection to everything his character went through – from getting fired, to cheating on his wife, resulting in another woman having his baby; and…

    Philly Food Truck: Prime Stache

    April 30, 2014 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor It’s been a minute since my last Food Truck profile.  I don’t have a list of next trucks to feature, nor am I constantly reaching out to the food truck community, I just kinda let it find me, like this time.  I went to Prime Stache (110 Chestnut Street) with my friend Teresa after the movie Heaven is For Real (click for T&T post) and we closed the joint, last two people to leave the restaurant; they just happened to have a couple of sandwiches left over from an event, and they offered them to us to take home.   The Ron Burgundy = 4…

    Trifecta: THE OTHER WOMAN

    April 25, 2014 /

Can I tell you the movie is more than what you see in the trailers? No, not really, it's a pretty predictable ride, but it's a good ride all the same.  I am glad that the writer, Melissa K. Stack, does not have the two women bond too quickly.
