He’s right about Pizza: HECTOR AND THE SEARCH FOR HAPPINESS

    September 26, 2014 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor “We all want a-pe-nis” (trying to pronounce happiness) says the French woman in the film. Yes, there are times a penis makes both men and women very happy, but what is “Happiness” really?  Such is the quest of Hector (Simon Pegg) in Hector and the Search for Happiness. Hector’s life from the outside looks pretty darn good, he’s got a lovely girlfriend Clara (Rosamund Pike). Pike is an actress that I really enjoy watching. I love that she doesn’t require any makeup and that she has this far away quality, while still adding substance to her characters.  Look for her in the new David Fincher…

Wanted to Stay: THIS IS WHERE I LEAVE YOU

    September 19, 2014 /

Are you closer to your siblings now that everyone’s an adult, or was the bond tighter as children? I have three sisters and a brother, and up until recently, when one of my sisters and I decided to move in together to share expenses, our relationships mainly consisted of holiday and birthday gatherings of G rated catch ups on life. Nothing too dramatic, nothing too revealing and God, it’s been ages since any of us has brought anyone home to meet the family. A movie about our sibling dynamics would not be very interesting, on the surface… In This is Where I Leave You, novelist/screenwriter Jonathan Tropper takes a family…

NO GOOD DEED – Surprisingly Goes Unpunished

    September 17, 2014 /

Box Office: “No Good Deed” Tops “Dolphin Tale 2” With $24.5 Million The Sony/Screen Gems thriller (No Good Deed) took in $24.5 million from 2,175 theaters, easily beating expectations. Going into the weekend, analysts expected the home invasion thriller to hover around $20 million. Females made up the bulk of the audience, taking up 60% of the seats in theaters, and 41% of ticket-buyers were under 30 years old…READ MORE Variety These numbers make me happy because Taraji P. Henson and Idris Elba are very talented actors, plus I admire Will Packer’s success as a Producer and most importantly, seeing black actors in mainstream movies that have nothing to do…

How Much is That Doggy in the Trash Can? – THE DROP

    September 12, 2014 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor I became a Tom Hardy fan from his role in Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy (click for T&T post), which wasn’t a big role for him, but there was a sexy indolence about the way he played that character that caught my notice.  My sister fell for him in This Means War, (click for T&T post) not the best spy rom/com, but I agree he’s rather adorably charming in that flick.  I still have to catch up on Locke, (click for T&T blog contrib post). Lawless (click for T&T post) remains one of Tinsel & Tine’s most read posts, where Hardy plays the un-kill-able bootlegger, Forrest Bondurant. Bottom line, if you need an actor…

Win The Trip to Italy – Screening Passes in Philly

    September 5, 2014 /

What does Alanis Morissette, Tom Hardy's muffled voice as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, sex with a female pirate, the poet Shelly being jealous of his Frankenstein birthing wife or dueling impersonation have to do with a foodie film about eating in some of the finest restaurants on Amalfi Coast, Rome, Liguria and other gorgeous Italian locales?
