Empire Talk Week 5: Dangerous Bonds (FoxTV)

    February 5, 2015 /

7 Highlights (Recap) from Episode 5 of EMPIRE “Dangerous Bonds” Directed by John Singleton Viewers were going crazy tweeting about the end of this week’s episode. Cookie’s $5000 hasty “purchase” is going to have big consequences! 1. One of the great things about this show, the format and music element makes it easy to have a slew of cameo appearances without it seeming overdone. This week Anthony Hamilton serenaded Anika while Lucious proposed marriage (Did you see that ROCK!?).  Only thing is, the proposal looks to be yet another strategic Lucious Lyons move as he needs a written clean bill of health to give to the insurance company, before Empire…

T&T’s Look at Xavier Dolan’s MOMMY

    February 2, 2015 /

The film brings us into the world of Diane "Die" Despres (Annie Dorval) an overly made up, aging beauty with a nice figure in her sequined jeans. Her manner is frank and frequently too loud. She's what you'd call a natural survivor. Die's car gets broadsided near the beginning of the film, and she emerges head bleeding, cussing out the at fault driver; yet the next scene she's made it to her destination, tacky heels clicking, as if the car accident was just another minor inconvenience in her usually trying day...

The Race Card: Black or White Movie

    February 1, 2015 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor A Quick Look at Kevin Costner’s Black or White It was 4 years ago January that I remember writing a post saying that one of my New Year’s resolutions would be to see more movies with a predominately black cast, as these movies were rarely a part of the main stream press screenings. I don’t believe I actually stuck to my intention that year, but thankfully things started to change and we began to see studio driven movies hit the theaters like (click for T&T posts): Redtails, 42, The Butler, Best Man Holiday, Black Nativity, Think Like A Man 1 & Think Like A Man…

Philly Spotlight: Philly Independent Film Festival Preview @ Art Alliance

    January 31, 2015 /

One of the films "The Invitation" had its first preview before a test audience. The filmmaker J.P. Hoffman (Imaginarium Pictures) was in attendance along with the featured actors Tom Schmitt and Melissa O’Donnell.  On the surface the film appears to be a break up love story, until it takes a turn to the dark side.

Empire Talk Week 4: False Imposition (FoxTV)

    January 29, 2015 /

Here we are 4th week of Empire and I thought this was going to be the first week I couldn’t watch at 9pm, cause I had a screening I couldn’t miss, but then lucky for me they changed the screening time from 7:30pm to 6pm, so I was home with 15 minutes to spare – just enough time to make myself a cup of hot cocoa with brandy and turn on Cookie and them! 7 Highlights (Recap) from Episode 4 of EMPIRE “False Imposition” Directed by Rosemary Rodriguez  1. Tianna (Serayah) knows what’s up! Despite the way Hakeem feels about his mother, Tianna understands Cookie knows her stuff, so she…
