    October 4, 2015 /

By Tinsel & Tine Editor, Le Anne Lindsay Mars Potatoes with Vicodin Matt Damon joins the ranks of Tom Hanks (Castaway), Ryan Reynolds (Buried), James Franco (127 Hours), Suraj Sharma (Life  of PI) Sandra Bullock (Gravity) and Robert Redford (All is Lost) – Movies where the main character is stranded somewhere alone and must rely on their own wits to not only survive, but to entertain themselves. (click links for T&T posts) In THE MARTIAN Mark Watley (Damon) is an Astronaut with a background in Botany. A Revlock Review: SICARIO

    October 2, 2015 /

Director Denis Villenueve’s American Crime Thriller By Tinsel & Tine Blog Contributor, Mikhail Revlock In the opening minutes of SICARIO, a team of FBI agents plow their armored truck through the front wall of a suburban home, find a legion of plastic-covered corpses behind the drywall, and trigger a massive explosion. Though none of the subsequent set pieces pack as big a punch as the introduction, the ensuing film is a masterwork in sustained tension. This will come as no surprise to followers of Canadian director Denis Villenueve, who rose to international distinction on the strength of Incendies—scoring a nomination for Best Foreign Film at the 2010 Academy Awards—and proceeded…

Empire Season 2 RECAP: Without a Country

    October 1, 2015 /

Empire Season 2, Episode 2: Without A Country directed by Dee Rees gets going with Cookie, Andre and Hakeem starting their own label. It takes them a while to come up with a name, but by the end of the episode it’s crowned #LyonDynasty, a perfect name to rival #Empire; not to mention, Lee Daniels and Danny Strong’s mega hit is often referred to as The Black, Dynasty. On the contrary, nobody is down with the name Hakeem comes up with for the all girl group he’s looking to produce. What was Hakeem thinking? #Empire #FOX13 #RainbowSensation @YazzTheGreatest pic.twitter.com/cJ4noSHCKH — FOX13 Memphis (@FOX13Memphis) October 1, 2015 Meanwhile Lucious is still…

    Uncle Bob: THE INTERN

    September 26, 2015 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor I really hope this movie THE INTERN encourages more mixing of the generations in the workplace.  Last year a temp agency sent me on a job interview at a tech/web company; I think when sent by an agency the company hiring doesn’t really have all the details of who you are – so when the young interviewer came to greet me in the reception area, I saw a noticeable look of dismissal on his face, the moment he laid eyes on me.  You could see he saw over 40, and was like, not happening. Being black and female didn’t help either. Of course he had…

    September 24, 2015 /

Season 2, Episode 1: The Devils Are Here  Directed by Lee Daniels, picks up 3 months later and Lucious Lyon is still behind bars, yet still calling the shots.  Jamal has become his loyal cub. And has not only bulked up his body, but he’s got a swelled head, giving everyone, even Becky, attitude as the new head of Empire. #EmpireSeason2 @JussieSmollett looks like he’s been lifting, kinda bulked up, looks good! #Empire — Tinsel & Tine (@tinseltine) September 24, 2015 A “Free Lucious Lyon” concert is being put on in the opening…
