Gorniak Goes for Gold: CITY OF GOLD (foodie doc)

    April 1, 2016 /

The key to deciphering both the city it beautifully depicts and the man who eats it best – City of Gold By Tinsel & Tine Contributor Denine Gorniak (The Bicycle-Chef) What Jonathan Gold, Los Angeles Times food critic/writer, has done for food writing journalism and for the restaurants that he loves, the movie, City of Gold has done for Jonathan Gold and Los Angeles and its surrounding environs – it has planted taco covered kisses on them. The movie is a love-letter to both Mr. Gold and Los Angeles. The documentary turns the notion that there’s no “there, there” in LA and flips it over like the many tortillas that…

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice

    March 28, 2016 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor I think most of us would agree, although the movie’s opening scene takes place at the crux of the battle which occurred in Superman: Man of Steel (click for T&T post) Batman V Superman is really another Batman (Ben Affleck) flick, with a Superman (Henry Cavil) guest starring role and a Wonder Woman cameo.  Gal Godot, by the way, is okay. I like that she’s of indeterminate race, and she looked fierce fighting Lex Luthor’s Doomsday… but Linda Carter with her amazing figure and sparkling eyes will always represent Wonder Woman for me. Director Zack Snyder states, “We felt an interesting way of beginning this story was to examine…

Movie Blog Post: HELLO, MY NAME IS DORIS

    March 25, 2016 /

A big part of her personality is her appearance (Costume designer Rebecca Gregg). She wears a ridiculous hairpiece that creates a bird’s nest atop her hair which she adorns with all manner of gaudy scarfs and headbands...

Weekend Brunch at GRAND LUX CAFE

    March 24, 2016 /

Over the Bridge to Brunch We Go: Grand Lux Cafe  By Tinsel & Tine Editor Le Anne Lindsay If you’re aware of the fact that Grand Lux Cafe is a sister restaurant to my home away from home Cheesecake Factory, then you can imagine there would be A LOT to talk about in trying to profile a restaurant with so much to offer (See MENU).  So I’m only gonna draw attention to Grand Lux Cafe’s comfort food Saturday & Sunday Brunch! Particularly as March 25th is NATIONAL WAFFLE DAY! and Fried Chicken and Waffles Topped with Crispy Fried Chicken Strips and Pecan Honey-Butter Sauce is GLC’s most popular brunch item. …

ALLEGIANT (3 of 3 Franchise) – Divergent Series Quick Breakdown

    March 20, 2016 /

By Tinsel & Tine Editor, Le Anne Lindsay I like the Divergent Series/Franchise about as much as I like the Hunger Games Series/Franchise which is basically, They aite.  It’s the strong leads – Jennifer Lawrence and Shailene Woodley which give each movie juice, along with the production designs. I haven’t read the young adult novels by Suzanne Collins or Veronica Roth, but I’m almost certain the books would give me more of what I’m craving with these stories, which is story, heart, more than just a premise. I am a sci-fi fan, not a geek, or an authority, but dystopian futures and high tech gadgetry works for me, so I’m…
