    October 22, 2017 /

Tinsel & Tine’s Look at Philadelphia Film Society & PNC Arts Alive PHILLY FILM SHOWCASE By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor Every month PFS supports local Philadelphia Filmmakers of all ages, levels, and backgrounds with a screening of selected films shown at the Prince Theater Black Box. Tickets are FREE, through PFS On Us presented by PNC Arts Alive,  although donations to Philly Film Showcase are welcome. I always have plans to go to more of these but often have a conflict.  I did get to attend the September Showcase, and since…

Foodie Post: ARIANA AFGHAN CUISINE Old City Philly

    October 16, 2017 /

Tinsel & Tine’s Look at ARIANA AFGHAN CUISINE By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor Have you ever tried Afghan Cuisine?  I hadn’t until last week when I got invited to a Media Event for a restaurant in Old City Philadelphia called Ariana Afghan Cuisine (134 Chestnut Street, cross st. closer to 2nd than Front), it’s run by female proprietor, Beheshta Hashmi, and believe it or not, it’s been there for 19 years!  I’m not sure why I never noticed it before, hence the media event, although, they have a loyal patronage, and good YELP reviews, but it’s always nice to add a little extra exposure. Movie Blog Post: REBEL IN THE RYE | GOODBYE CHRISTOPHER ROBIN

    October 11, 2017 /

By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor A biopic about the celebrated but reclusive author, J.D. Salinger, famous for his novel, “The Catcher in the Rye”. (died 2010 age 91) the movie is written and directed by Danny Strong who is the co-creator of the TV Show Empire (w/ Lee Daniels) and for other Gilmore Girl fans like myself, he plays Paris’s boyfriend Doyle. Rebel in the Rye stars Nicholas Hoult, who was a child actor in one of my all time favorite movies About a Boy with Hugh Grant. He’s also Beast in a number of the X-men movies, a cute zombie in Warm Bodies (see below) and I’m really looking…
