BREAKTHROUGH
BREAKTHROUGH I love seeing these faith-based films which typically hit theaters around Easter. I think it’s because over the years, I’ve moved away from the church and into a more philosophical look at spirituality and faith; which intellectually makes me feel more empowered. Yet, when I watch these movies, (click for T&T Reviews) “Heaven Is For Real”, “Miracles from Heaven”, “The Shack” and now “Breakthrough” all based on true stories which so clearly don’t shy away from church, scripture, miracles and God, I feel a certain relief watching them. LEGO® ANIMALS INVADE THE PHILADELPHIA ZOO
Got to enjoy it with Denine aka @thebicyclechef and her son Nate. We were sad to learn the Polar Bears after 35 years have passed away, but the LEGO® sculpture (see video 2nd image) is an AMAZING tribute! Part of Creatures of Habitat: A Gazillion-Piece Animal Adventure, Presented by WSFS Bank, and created by Artist Sean Kenney. 12 amazing life-size LEGO® brick vignettes situated throughout the Zoo.

LITTLE
Very quick #MiniMovieReview for LITTLE, opening week I promoted the below LA Times interview featuring all the fabulous black women involved: Director Tina Gordon, Regina Hall, Issa Rae and the outstanding comedic timing, not to mention producing skills of Marsai Martin! I really enjoyed the movie, it’s predictably satisfying, good momentum, I like the little floor piano scene thrown in as a nod to Penny Marshall/Tom Hanks BIG. I invite a number of friends to see the preview screenings with me, but I love that this friend was moved enough to write a #MiniMovieReview review… “I saw a preview of this movie yesterday. Frankly, I would advise people to save their money. At the end of the film, people were clapping. My emotions moved from being mildly inspired to disappointed to furious. In typical Hollywood fashion, this movie manages to make the white man the real star of the film. They re-fashion the KKK into a group that only terrorizes white people. SHAZAM!
Directed by David F. Sandberg and starring Zachary Levi as a 14-year-old kid in a grown man’s superpower enhanced body. Loved this concept, just wished his Shazam personality and his Billy Batson (Asher Angel) personalities were a little more well matched. Even if Billy didn’t have the weight of the world hanging on his shoulders as a foster kid constantly running away to look for his real mom – he still wouldn’t be as childishly goofy and gleeful as he becomes when he’s Shazam.
