Spotlight on Summer Blockbuster JURASSIC WORLD

By Tinsel & Tine Editor,  Le Anne Lindsay

This summer we’re back in movie franchise heaven starting with The Avengers, now Jurassic World (4th installment) and next Magic Mike, and so far the first two have hit their marks as far as I’m concerned!

T&T Synopsis: Jurassic World takes us back to Jurassic Park, only now it’s 20 years later, and the amusement park has become as common as Disney World, even though you have to travel to Costa Rica to get there.  John Hammond’s vision for Jurassic Park (homage is paid with original logos and other references to the 1st movie) is in the hands of Billionaire Simon Masrani (Irrfan Khan) and no-nonsense executive Claire (Bryce Dallas Howard).  People flock to the park and all it’s Dinosaur wonders – able to paddle down stream with Brachiosaurus eating from the trees at the banks of the rivers; be amazed by a super huge Leviathan type creature that splashes onlookers as he dives back into the tank after feeding, like an ancient Shamu the Whale; and fabulous dinosaur holograms near the food court and gift shops.

Claire goes from tight-ass to badass in Jurassic World

Claire has invited her nephews, Gray (Ty Simpkin) and Zach (Nick
Robinson
) to visit, although she doesn’t have time to show them around
herself, but they’ll be fine with an inattentive assistant and a VIP
pass for the park – what can happen, right?  After all, they’ve called
in Raptor Whisperer, Owen (Chris Pratt) to inspect the safety of the pen
for the latest and greatest dinosaur attraction ever to hit Jurassic
World – a biologically engineered super dinosaur! Smarter, faster,
meaner, able to camouflage himself and more…

This video from Comicbook.com of Chris Pratt getting pranked during an interview is kinda stupid, but amusing, and shows Pratt to be a good sport. I just think 6 min is too long, you get the bit 3 minutes in.

Writer/director Colin Trevorrow’s (Safety Not Gauranteed – click for T&T post) “Jurassic World” plot is very similar to The Avengers: Age of Ultron (click for T&T post) in that it’s always a mistake to play “Dr. Frankenstein” and go about creating something unnatural, just because the technology is thereresults = disaster for all!
T &T’s LAMB Score : 4 outta 5 (not quite as humorous as Jurassic Park, a close second to The Lost World: Jurrasic Park  and a little better than Jurassic Park 3).
