    ANNIHILATION

    March 1, 2018 /

For some film buffs Alex Garland is known for his work writing Danny Boyle directed films such as “Sunshine” and “28 Days Later”, not to be confused with “127 Hours” which was written & directed by Boyle. Garland also adapted Kazuo Ishiguro’s novel “Never Let Me Go” starring Carey Mulligan, Keira Knightly and Andrew Garfield as clones. Definitely one to add to your queue if you haven’t seen it.  But most movie-goers only started paying attention to Alex Garland, when he wrote & directed the extraordinary “Ex Machina” (2014) starring Alicia Vikander as a Fembot. Now, he’s adapted the first book in Jeff VanderMeer’s “Southern Reach” trilogy, “Annihilation”, “Authority”, and…

    GAME NIGHT

    February 27, 2018 /

Why aren’t Jason Bateman & Rachel McAdams married in real life! Or at least have been in a movie together before now, they’ve got superb natural rhythm and chemistry together. Their shorthand feels like two characters on a long running hit TV series. Another great pair are the co-directors of “Game Night” John Francis Daley & Jonathan Goldstein who are also the writers of Spider-Man Homecoming and are in the process of developing The Flash with Ezra Miller for D.C. Movie Universe. For Game Night john/jon serve up a perfectly paced 90 minute Comedy/Thriller/Mystery that keeps us all playing along. Max (Bateman) and Annie (McAdams) are a happily competitive couple…

Oscars Post 2018: BEST COSTUME DESIGN NOMINATED FILMS 2018

    February 26, 2018 /

Tinsel & Tine’s Look at 2018 OSCAR NOMINATED MOVIES FOR COSTUME DESIGN By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor I wrote this for the LAMB (Large Ass Movie Blogging Association) segment “The LAMB Devours the OSCARS – Costume Design Nominees” When it comes to the artistic elements instrumental in rounding out and truly creating the feel of a movie or film, like production design, cinematography and music, what captures my attention more often than the others is Costume Design. I was not a fan of Carol by Todd Haynes, yet I remember the color palate of each dress and outfit worn by Cate Blanchett & Rooney Mara, and those fabulous furs. I…

    Movie Blog Post: BLACK PANTHER

    February 20, 2018 /

Tinsel & Tine’s Look at BLACK PANTHER By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor I don’t follow comic books, but I do consider myself a “Blerd” (Black Nerd). I’m all about superhero movies, Sci-Fi Flicks, Game of Thrones, totally love Fantasy, so I see every MCU & D.C. movie that comes out, but the excitement for BLACK PANTHER starring Chadwick Boseman was palpable, building since Captain America: Civil War. Whenever I’d get depressed about something, I’d console myself by saying, but Black Panther is coming out soon! I took a day off from work to see the press screening, I bought a T-shirt, I even bought a comic book during the @AmalgamPhilly…
