4th Annual BLACK STAR FILM FESTIVAL 2015 Round Up

    August 30, 2015 /

This panel featured Indie Filmmakers/Producers/Media Consultants who are all women of color. These females represent storytellers and bridge-builders in the industry. They spoke on how their identity has impacted their work; why they think it’s important to claim space in film, and what fears they still hold as they continue to make strides in a still primarily white industry...

Connor’s Corner: WE ARE YOUR FRIENDS

    August 29, 2015 /

The heart of this film, though, doesn’t lie in the CGI or even the music and sounds Cole creates and collects. While the graphics showcase a certain level of multimedia I haven’t seen in mainstream film and the music is certainly the guiding force of the plot

    AMERICAN ULTRA

    August 21, 2015 /

If I Were A Sleeper Agent AMERICAN ULTRA By Tinsel & Tine Editor, Le Anne Lindsay If I were a sleeper agent, God forbid they station me in some podunk town working in a mini-mart, until I’m possibly activated. I’d need to be enjoying a glam existence of chic couture, world travel, good food and a semi-high profile cover, like a celebrated artist or clothing designer. When activated, kicking ass as a killing machine, would never do, I’d like to become a master manipulator, gaining access to people in places of power and bending their will to mine. In AMERICAN ULTRA, Mike Howell (Jesse Eisenberg) has no such luck, he’s…

Recap: NAACP Convention in Philly – Act-So Culinary Competition, President Obama and more…

    August 19, 2015 /

Philly Welcomed the NAACP Convention This year the NAACP Convention (106th Annual) lead by NAACP President/CEO Cornell William Brooks and NAACP Chairman Rosalyn M. Brock was held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center (1101 Arch St, Philadelphia, PA) July 11-15, 2015, with a theme of “Pursuing Liberty In the Face of Injustice.” In the wake of the social and economic unrest across the country, the NAACP set an agenda to focus on voting rights, criminal justice reform, health equity, economic opportunity and education equality ahead of the 2016 presidential election. As you all know, Tinsel & Tine is hardly a political or socio-economic blog, but it does celebrate Philadelphia, and having…

At Home with Tinsel & Tine: A SINGLE MAN

    August 17, 2015 /

I’ve never had anything called lemon something that wasn’t good, but have you had Turkey Hill’s Southern Lemon Pie ice cream? It’s really DELISH!!! Light, soft, creamy lemon texture with just the right size pieces of shortbread cookie and a hint of marshmallow. I understand it’s a seasonal ice cream, another reason to hate saying goodbye to summer. Anyway, this is what I enjoyed while finally watching Tom Ford’s 2009 critically acclaimed A SINGLE MAN starring Colin Firth as a gay professor in the early 60’s who realizes after a year of mourning his lover’s death, he can’t take the pain anymore and plans his day around his suicide. It…
