Keeping Up with the Marvel Universe: ANT-MAN

    July 17, 2015 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor  T&T’s Look at Marvel Cinematic Universe:ANT-MAN I was reading about the comic book version of ANT-MAN and it seems although certainly not your household superhero, he does go back quite a ways – actually, a founding member of The Avengers.  Ant-Man’s alter-ego is Dr. Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) a brilliant scientist, possibly more brilliant than Tony Stark (Iron Man) or his father, yet that seems to be in some debate. Dr. Pym specializes in “Alice in Wonderland” like technology of shrinking and enlarging people and objects, done by manipulating the space between atoms and such.  His wife Janet was also a superhero called the Wasp,…

    Suddenly Schumer: TRAINWRECK

    July 17, 2015 /

T&T’s Look at Trainwreck Starring & Written by Comedian Amy Schumer  By Tinsel & Tine Editor, Le Anne Lindsay About 6 months ago I heard my sister cracking up and figured she was watching Comedy Central – which when the day that Comcast is finally forced to allow us the ability to pick and choose channels, CC will be one of her 10, although, without Jon Stewart on the Daily Show, it will no longer be her top choice.  So anyway, I went to see what was so funny and it was an Amy Schumer standup special “Mostly Sex Stuff” (2012), but I didn’t know that at the time cause…

    A Revlock Review: AMY

    July 12, 2015 /

Kapaida’s documentary succeeds in simultaneously humanizing the artist and legitimizing her art. Early home videos reveal the singer’s passion, whimsicality, and wit, strengths that were already dissipating by the time Winehouse entered the public eye...

A New Take on the Fountain of Youth: SELF/LESS

    July 10, 2015 /

Movie Highlight: Self/Less By Tinsel & Tine Editor, Le Anne Lindsay The fountain of youth is a legendary spring or fountain that brings youth to those who drink its water. The myth goes back to Herodotus in the 5th century B.C.E. And stories of Alexander the Great are often associated with the fountain of youth, although, his search was for a river, not a fountain. With all the power, wealth and land that Alexander attained during his lifetime, it’s understandable that he’d want to find a way to stay here to enjoy his spoils that much longer, but seeing as he died in his early thirties, why would he be…

Philly Spotlight: VENDY AWARDS Recap 2015

    July 3, 2015 /

Highlight: Vendy Awards Philadelphia 2015 This was my 2nd year attending the Philadelphia Vendy Awards (click for T&T 2014). And although I knew I had a big wedding to go to that evening, I still made a pig of myself and tried something from almost every booth.  But how else are you going to vote honestly otherwise? The Vendy Awards is an annual (5th Annual for Philly) street food competition series that determines the “best of the best” in street food. Each year thousands of guests eagerly purchase tickets to sample food from publicly nominated vendors. The winners are chosen by event ticket holders as well as a panel of…
