Cheese Ball II: A Cave Raising – Recap

    January 25, 2014 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor Last Saturday I went to cover a Cheese Ball!  Which makes you think of those nutty balls of cheddar cheese from Hickory Farms we eat at Christmastime.  This however, was a party where everyone brings cheese to sample or a spread for cheese or something to spread the cheese upon. It was held in the Northern Liberties area at the Ruba Club (416 Green St., Phila, PA 19123). The brainchild of Cheese Coutesan and expert Tenaya Darlington, better known as Madame Fromage! Cheese Ball Hostess Madame Fromage Tenaya threw the first Cheese Ball in 2012, then last year got busy writing her cheese book for…

    Trader Joe’s Tarte D’ Alsace

    January 25, 2014 /

Everyone knows my love affair with Trader Joe’s – but this is my favorite, favorite thing from there: 4+++ TINE RATING! The Maitre Pierre Tart D’ Alsace w/ Ham, Caramelized Onions & Gruyere Cheese. It’s a cross between a pizza, tarte and crepe. The ham is closer to prosciutto, the center of the tarte stays gooey, the crust, when you watch it and don’t let it burn, is golden crunchy. My friend Heather introduced me to it a couple of years back on NYE and I still make it my go to when I’m feeling blue and need a treat! $4.99. It’s only enough for 1, don’t even think about…

Triple Action Movie Day: The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, Jack Ryan:Shadow Recruit, The Legend of Hercules

    January 21, 2014 /

Thankfully, most movies I get to see in previews, but sometimes I miss a few flicks depending on my work schedule, or where the preview is screening. To catch up, every other month or so, I do a double or triple feature. (pay for 1 get 2 😉 Which Tolkien Creature Are You? Take the Quiz – It Pegged Me Perfectly! The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug (Director: Peter Jackson)  begins with a little prequel to The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, where we see Gandalf (Ian McKellen) introduce himself to Thorin (Richard Armitage), the would be Dwarf King. These two were more than well acquainted in the first movie, so…

Oscar Predictions: Tinsel & Tine’s Ballot Has Been Filled Out

    January 17, 2014 /

My Oscar Ballot is mainly based on who I want to win,  A few choices based on who I think will win.  And for those boring categories- just random guesses. Surprised American Hustle wasn’t nominated for Makeup& Hair. Hoping Chiwetel Ejiofor will win for Best Actor, but it will probably go to Bruce Dern. Loved Jared Leto in Dallas Buyers Club, but since he took home Best Supporting for Golden Globes, I’m going to root for Fassy (Michael Fassbender 12 Years A Slave) for the Oscar. Even though Cate Blanchette won Golden Globe, still think she should & will win the Oscar. Kept trying to see Blue is the Warmest Color, figuring…
