Candi’s Corner – Ahhhhhh! Zombies!!! Surviving World War Z
Reviews by Candace C. Smith The last time I enjoyed a movie with Brad Pitt was when I empathized with his voracious appetite in 2001’s Ocean’s Eleven. Watching him eat in just about every scene was one of the many highlights of that movie for my viewing bliss. Since then, I haven’t paid much attention to Mr. Pitt’s acting or believe it or not, personal relationships disseminated throughout the daily circus of celebrity blogs and TV infotainment programs. With his latest movie, World War Z, I have finally, once again taken notice of not only his acting ability, but his physical dexterity. In both American and British terms, the man…

Philly Dining: Pizzeria Stella
As mentioned in my review of the movie Frances Ha, lunch prior to the screening was at Pizzeria Stella (420 S 2nd St, Philadelphia, PA 19106). Also as previously mentioned, slowly but surely, I aim to get around to all the Stephen Starr restaurants in the city, but he populates them so fast, I doubt I’ll ever catch up; my palate and stomach are willing, but my pocketbook still lags behind. Well, as I’ve stated in two previous posts: Simply Marvel-ous: The 4 Comic Book Movies You Don’t Want to Miss and Grazing: THIS IS THE END I wholly approve of the new Superman Henry Cavill, I had seen him in the Immortals and I remember him being the only thing good about that movie; but it took him playing The Man of Steel to really capture my attention. I was surprised to also like Amy Adams as Lois Lane. When I first heard she’d be playing the role, I felt she was too over-exposed and that a lesser known actress should play the part. But as this Lois Lane character…

Grazing: THIS IS THE END
I experienced apocalyptic themes twice this week, first with Seth Rogan’s hilarious – what would it be like to experience the end of the world with all my famous friends movie This Is the End, and the next night, with the new gorgeous superMan of Steel, fighting his own race to save ours. My perfect last days scenario would be a combination of both movies – to hole up in a Hollywood mansion with Henry Cavill and hope not to ascend to heaven before he can bring me there himself – in any way he wants to! But lets get back to This Is the End. I can’t begin to…
