Will You Stop Eating Cupcakes! – THIS IS 40

    December 22, 2012 /

by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor If I had realized the characters in Judd Apatow’s This Is 40, were the same couple from Knocked Up, I would not have gone to see this movie. I hated Alison’s (Katherine Heigl’s) annoying, abrasive, argumentative sister and brother-in-law. My amnesia is not surprising considering Knocked Up is on my list of “never need to see again movies” – just did not see the funny. I did however, really like the trailer for This Is 40, and not only did the trailer do the movie justice – for a change, there are heaps more funny scenes and lines than the trailer shows! Most importantly, Debbie…

Très Bon: Les Misérables (Golden Globe Nominated)

    December 20, 2012 /

It’s hard for me to remember a time when the song “Do You Hear The People Sing” has not been among the top rotation of songs that just constantly live in my head. I’m not very political and I’m far too afraid of being arrested to ever actually participate in a sit in; nonetheless, I have a fantasy about taking a stand for some injustice and just when defeat seems imminent and those that stand with me seem about to cave, I break out loud and clear with: (see video below) The truth of the matter, I, like so many others have listened to Claude-Michel Schönberg and Alain Boublil‘s score…

Feast Fit for a Dwarf – The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey

    December 15, 2012 /

Yes, I have seen and took pleasure in Peter Jackson’s Lord of the Rings trilogy. However, no, haven’t had a chance to watch any of the 3 again since seeing them in the theater. And no, I haven’t ever read J. R. R. Tolkien’s “The Hobbit”.  Although, I’ve added it to my Audible.com queue, or what they call “Wish List”. Therefore, I’m basically unqualified to truly review The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. So I went to TheOneRing.net  – forged by and for fans of J.R.R Tolkien, to see what they had to say about this much anticipated prequel. There’s a lot there – including 12 things they like and dislike…

Much todo about hot dogs: Hyde Park on Hudson

    December 13, 2012 /

How could anyone seduce the President of the United States wearing oxfords, long printed frocks and spinster cardigan sweaters? Even if said President was crippled by polio and the year is 1939.  Yet Margaret “Daisy” Suckley (Laura Linney) dressed thusly, and became Franklin Delano Roosevelt’s (Bill Murray) intimate confident and companion during a major portion of his life. Daisy being 5th cousin to the Roosevelt family and the only relative available one summer afternoon; was called on by FDR’s mother to come make a visit to Hyde Park, her home in Upper State New York, to which her son, The President, often used as an extension to The White House.…

    Philly Dining: MAGPIE

    December 4, 2012 /

Magpie is an artisan pie shop that opened this past August at 1622 South Street. This area of South Street has really gentrified, I’ve been dying to also visit The Cambridge , Pumpkin, and Rex 1516 . Holly Owner (former Graphic Designer) Holly Ricciardi says she decided to open Magpie in this city because we need it. “I love Philly,” says Ricciardi. “It’s wonderful. It’s a big foodie town. I thought if I’m going to do this, I want to open it up in the city because city life is a little rough and people need a little country in their lives to feel comfort and love.” – READ MORE…
