    THE IRISHMAN

    November 10, 2019 /

Marking Martin Scorsese’s 60th directorial effort. Based on Charles Brandt’s book I Heard You Paint Houses, (screenplay Steven Zaillian) a non-fiction account detailing the life of Frank Sheeran (Robert De Niro) a soldier in WWII, who returns to his Philadelphia roots to become a truck driver, but eventually is lucky or unlucky enough to meet mob boss Russell Bufalino (Joe Pesci) who measures Sheeran up to be mob material, despite not being Italian or connected to any families. And thus, begins the 210 minute story leading up to the 1970 disappearance of Teamsters union figure Jimmy Hoffa (Al Pacino). Sheeran may have left the war, but the soldier mentality has…

PhillyVoice Reports: Robert De Niro, Shia LaBeouf to film ‘After Exile’ in Philly this fall

    September 26, 2019 /

Philly has been a hotbed for feature films, reality TV, and anthology series lately, so it’s not shocking that one of Hollywood’s biggest stars is headed here before year’s end to film a new project. Robert De Niro will be back in the Philly area to film “After Exile” starting in early November, the Greater Philadelphia Film Office confirmed to the Inquirer. Shia LaBeouf, Shailene Woodley, and Chloe Grace Moretz reportedly also will star in the film. “After Exile” is a crime drama, directed by Joshua Michael Stern, about a young man (LaBeouf) who is coming to terms with his life and father (De Niro) after he serves an eight-year…

Tinsel & Tine at Tribeca Film Festival – Spotlight, Midnight and Storyscapes sections Annoucement

    March 30, 2014 /

April 16-27, 2013 (Lower Manhattan) POST UPDATE 3/29/14: Well, now I’m super bummed because I got turned down for press credentials to #TFF2014.  I heard they simply aren’t accepting as many bloggers as they have in past years.  I was sent an invitation from Tribeca to throw my hat in the ring, as it were, on December 21, 2013. You’d think they could let you know before March 21st., that’s just so late to put things in order, so I was proceeding as if it were a done deal. Plus, that’s what all the self-help, philosophy, Laws of Attraction, “Depak Chopras’s” of the world, always say – the Universe responds…

PFF21: SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK w/ David O. Russell Red Carpet Photos

    October 27, 2012 /

21st Philadelphia Film Festival Opening Red Carpet with David O. Russell, director of “Silver Linings Playbook” and Matthew Quick, author of the same entitled book. All day Thursday, October 18, 2012, I was feeling out-of-sorts and low on energy, but all that seemed to disappear the moment I stepped up to the press bullpen to take red carpet photos at the Opening of the 21st Philadelphia Film Festival, featuring the opening film – Silver Linings Playbook. Director David O. Russell (The Fighter) was the prime red carpet target, along with the author of the book “Silver Linings Playbook” Matthew Quick. The others pics are of local actors (Brea Bee, Vaughn…
