    SPECIALish Jessica Watkins

    April 29, 2021 /

I got a chance to screen Jessica Watkins' comedic feature length documentary ‘SPECIALish’ showing her walk across the United States over the course of 8 months. Punctuated by her standup comedy about her experience at stops in clubs along her way. First off, I admire Jessica for all the walking and camping she did do, because I know for me, I'd be lucky to...

    Crop Circle Realities

    April 18, 2021 /

How can some people believe that humans go out in the middle of the night, where there's no streetlight around and no way to bring that much electricity without someone seeing it, yet managed to create a perfect big complex crop-circle within the hours of darkness... How on earth do they manage and not even a dog awakens to bark?  And until this day no one has been caught in the act.  Are they so clever to be nearly invisible?...

Documentary: The Way I See It

    October 8, 2020 /

Some of the photo highlights of President Obama include time spent playing in the snow with his daughters and coaching Sasha’s basketball game; to squatting down next to a General in the War Room during the taking down of Osama bin Laden; to reaching out to the son’s of his right hand advisor on Obamacare when she had to be away from her children, putting in 60-80 hour work weeks. You also see the genuine care he gives the victims of the Sandy Hook shooting. Just so many photos that show the humanity instilled in our 44th President. And then darkness falls upon the land in 2016 and Souza goes…

    THE GO-GO’S (Sundance 2020 Premiere)

    February 3, 2020 /

Director Alison Ellwood handles the interviews, pacing, images, 80s nostalgia deftly, but she doesn’t reinvent the wheel. There’s a standard template for rock-band disintegration and the Go-Go’s story fits within a basic music-doc rulebook, but that makes it no less fun. There’s nothing I love better than a tale of rising beyond one’s wildest dreams, peaking, then taking that terrible tumble, only to learn lessons and find your footing again.
