Tommy Wiseau’s THE ROOM & James Franco’s THE DISASTER ARTIST

    November 20, 2017 /

Tinsel & Tine’s Look at THE DISASTER ARTIST & THE ROOM By Le Anne Lindsay, Editor A couple weeks ago when I received Allied’s weekly screening list, Tommy Wiseau’s The Room was scheduled. I didn’t know anything about the movie, so I went to You Tube for a trailer and discovered something weird and nonsensical – only it didn’t appear to be a comedy or a spoof. I didn’t even finish watching the trailer; I just sorta scratched my head, didn’t give it a lot of thought and chose the other films on the list I planned to see in the coming week. Tinsel & Tine Movie Selfie Cut to…

    A Revlock Review: ROOM

    October 26, 2015 /

One cannot fault a sensitive, horror-averse moviegoer for balking at the premise of ROOM. On paper, the film reads as a realist revitalization of torture-porn tropes: Joy (Brie Larson) is kidnapped at nineteen by a bearded creep whom she refers to as Old Nick (Sean Bridgers), he imprisons her in a fortified garden shed and rapes her...

Blog Contributor Monique: LOCKE (Tom Hardy

    May 9, 2014 /

by Monique Steans I was really glad to get the assignment to see LOCKE, as it had been on my Indie film radar for sometime. TOM HARDY’S character Ivan Locke, centers around an emotionally tortured man who on the outside seems calmbut on the inside is falling apart at the seams. The film was shot entirely in a car, in London with a singular character, Locke, interacting on the phone with those in his life, it’s an interesting journey. I couldn’t help but feel an emotional connection to everything his character went through – from getting fired, to cheating on his wife, resulting in another woman having his baby; and…

    Candi’s Corner: THE SPECTACULAR NOW

    August 21, 2013 /

In the Age of “YOLO”– A Review of The Spectacular Now By Candace Cordelia Being the good and curious film reviewer that I am, I had to read some other movie reviews about The Spectacular Now before seeing the movie. Rotten Tomatoes gave the film a 92%, certified fresh rating, with critics calling it “original”, “zesty”, “humane” with lead actors Miles Teller and Shailene Woodley, described as “wonderful” and “one of the most appealing onscreen couples in recent memory”. When so much praise is given to a movie, my first feeling is excitement… and then skepticism crawls in. There have been a lot of movies that have been called…
