A Movie in 3 Acts: GONE GIRL
The movie could use a little trim, and some may feel Flynn's book and screenplay jumps the shark a bit at some points, which is why I call it a movie in 3 Acts, but I gotta say, I liked it. Both young actors, Woodley as Hazel and her Divergent co-star Ansel Elgort as Augustus Waters, give truly likable performances as 17 and 18 year-old cancer survivors, who never deny that life has dealt them each a bad hand, but manage to fall in love like any young couple - starting with, will he or won't he call, flirtatious texts, hanging out and making an everyday word like "Okay" take on relationship meaning...

Cavalcade of Mutants: X-MEN DAYS OF FUTURE PAST
My new favorite Mutant is Quicksilver (Evan Peters). He's super, crazy fast, so much so he has time to not only stop a bullet, but play with it during its trajectory. The rescue of Eric/Magneto from the Pentagon features the crackerjack, swiftness of Quicksilver, at the end of the scene the audience at my screening exploded into loud clapping appreciation.

Trifecta: THE OTHER WOMAN
Can I tell you the movie is more than what you see in the trailers? No, not really, it's a pretty predictable ride, but it's a good ride all the same. I am glad that the writer, Melissa K. Stack, does not have the two women bond too quickly.
