SAG Awards will be called THE ACTOR AWARD presented by SAG-AFTRA.
Personally, I’m all for the rebranding. After all, the American Theatre Wing has the TONY and the Academy of Motion Pictures has always had the OSCAR, so no need for SAG to be so literal in their choice of awards name all these years. But I just strongly feel they should have changed it to the ACTING AWARD, not Actor Award. Organizers emphasized that other than formally changing the name, nothing is changing about the guild’s premier awards show, either in presentation or in how it is administered in terms of voting, submissions or eligibility. However, in terms of campaigns, they are being flexible this year: To help ease the transition for reps at studios and networks, FYC campaign materials will continue using Screen Actors Guild Awards through this season’s pre-nomination voting period ending on January 5, 2026. Moving forward, post-nominations, SAG will be advising everyone to use The Actor Awards.
