QFest Day1

The Opening Night film Hollywood, je t’aime follows this puppy dog eyed Frenchman, Jerome (Eric Debets) who leaves Paris for adventures in Hollywood, after he’s dumped by Chris Kattan look-alike (Jonathan Blanc). He meets up with a sexy pothead, played by Chad Allen, a trans-something ( I’m not sure of the term for a real woman with a dick- hermaphrodite?)(Diarra Kilpatrick ) and a moody drag queen (Micheal Airington).
Not a lot takes place throughout the course of the film, but Debets is rather adorable, allowing for the audience to find interest in his little American holiday. The film is good at portraying the not so glamorous side of LA and hits some truly funny notes, particularly when delivered by Airington. The Paris scenes filmed in black and white – probably not necessary. The first time writer/director, Jason Bushman, at the Q&A, mentioned it was a nod to Wizard of Oz (transported to a different world).
This was my first gay film and I counted no less than 6 penises, let’s see if the next film can top it!
