PhillySoundStages Opening

I love that I attended two catered affairs in one week for two film studios. First was Suncenter Studios (see post) second, PhillySoundStages, smaller in size and scope, but equally important in solidifying Philly as an entertainment making city!PhillySoundStages is a full-service film studio, housing two studios, 3 Bay Indoor Loading Dock, Lighting & Grip Rentals, Green Room, Make-up and Wardrobe Room, Conference Room, Ample Parking, Production Services, Post-Production Services and… these adorable houses

rented out as home offices away from your home office, while on set producing a film, music video, commercial etc… They call it “The Neighborhood”, complete with green astro turf outside the door. Interested parties can e-mail info@phillystudios.com

PhillySoundStages is also Philadelphia Film Society’s home, their offices are on the first level, along with Invincible Pictures a full service independent film, television, DVD and digital distribution company in Philly.

My anticipation for an evening such as this is always the delectable fare making its way to me on silver trays. The caterer for the evening – Class Act (Owner, Craig Zeserman 610-853-6634) must still be a relatively new business, as their is no website listed on his card and Googling brings him up under Jefferey Miller Catering which I know well. At any rate, the staff was very pleasant, the food was plentiful and I was not disappointed by any of the offerings – baby lamb chops were on point! (not pictured)

The live entertainment was a group call Chris Schutz + Tourists. For me their sound could be described like a Matchbox 20 or perhaps a lighter Daughtry. Well, you can be the judge, click the above link to check out the band and their music.

Next I went up to this group, (Susan Helfrich, Melissa Lam & Rick Lam), as a person, I’d never do that, but as a blogger it’s great! I always ask if anyone has a card or is promoting anything, Susan (pictured right) is CFO of Breaking Glass Pictures. They are a Philly based distribution house, focused on releasing films provocative and challenging in nature, from Horror, Gore, LGBT, or anything a little disturbing.

Then I visited with these two director/producers. lft Brett Nielsen rt David M. Causa II, I hope neither of them takes offense at the fact that I can’t remember their current projects. It’s not because I didn’t find them interesting, but if I don’t write it down immediately or use my digital voice recorder, it’s like it never happened. Don’t you wish your mind could be like a computer and you could just hit save?

It was dark so I actually didn’t see the outside mural, but this is Cat Badger, the muralist.

I had some fun playing dress up with this guy, in the wardrobe room. His name is Bill Lance and he did the storyboards for the recent music video shot at PhillySoundStages which featured Bam from Jackass. It’s a little hard to see from the pic below, but this is the car they smashed during the making of the video.

So that wraps up the evening. I’ll just throw in one of me in the faux fur since my legs look pretty good. There are a few more shots, not of me, but of the party on Tinsel & Tine’s facebook fan page.
