Just a Taste: Salmon Fishing in Yemen
by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor
Salmon Fishing in the Yemen, an international story of love, war, faith and fishing. An Arab Sheik from the country of Yemen (Amr Waked) strongly desires to bring the sport of salmon fishing to the desert. Harriet Chetwode -Talbot (Emily Blunt) is the account executive of a British company which represents the business interests of the Shiek, and is given the task of finding a fishing expert/scientist, Dr Fred Jones (Ewan McGregor) to head up the Sheik’s project. Also in the mix is an aggressive press secretary for the Prime Minister (Kristen Scott Thomas); Dr Jones’ absentee wife; Chetwode-Talbot’s missing in action boyfriend; and an array of obstacles that has everyone involved in the Yemen Salmon project swimming upstream.
Although I had trouble becoming engaged for the first 30 minutes or so of the film; by the end I was taken in by the zen outlook of the endeavor. I was also quite taken with that charming Sheik. For a man like that, I might consider being wife number 10 or 11.
