Aussie actress Rebel Wilson is ready to make it in America. She won’t be resting on her laurels after her breakout performance as one of Kristen Wiig’s wacky British roommates in “Bridesmaids.”
This comedic actress was best known for her roles in the television series “Pizza” and “Bogan Pride” before she made the move to Los Angeles. She’s already been involved in several projects like:

• “What to Expect When You’re Expecting” – a film that shares a title with the popular pregnancy guide where she was a bright spot in an otherwise bland rom-com.
• “Ice Age: Continental Drift” – as the voice of Raz
• “Small Apartments” – an independent film where she had a lead role and played alongside Dolph Lundgren.
• “Struck by Lightening” – where she played the lead role in the writing debut of “Glee” standout Chris Colfer.
• “Bachelorette” – a cross between “The Hangover” and “Mean Girls.”

Wilson can really say she’s made it, especially now that she’s been involved in a Michael Bay project. Now in post-production, she playing a lead role in “Pain and Gain” a (relatively) low-budget for Michael Bay action/comedy film starring Mark Wahlberg and Dwayne Johnson.

Wilson has been working on her American accent tirelessly, eschewing a vocal coach for more authentic sources. While talking to Conan O’Brien she said reality shows are her best source for vocal coaching. Her favorite reality shows? “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” and “Here Comes Honey Boo-boo.” Rebel said on “The Late Late Night Show with Craig Ferguson” that she can identify with “Toddlers and Tiaras” as she spent her youth participating in dog shows as a junior dog handler. She’s been able to perfect catchphrases like “You’d better redneck-ognize” which will hopefully give her a leg up on the competition. Wilson knows she looks silly watching and repeating dialog from these shows but her roommate should be understanding.

Wilson has moved into a house in LA and it’s a case of life imitating art. Her “Bridesmaids” roommate Matt Lucas is now her real-life roommate. The two share a West Hollywood home featuring a pool and hot tub where the two love to sing along to show tunes. Instead of annoying Kristen Wiig, they are apparently annoying the neighbors. For her appearance on Conan O’ Brien, Wilson brought a letter written by a neighbor onto the talk show and read it to the audience.

The neighbor chose to remain anonymous, except to say “I am living somewhere behind you.” The letter both welcomed them to the neighborhood and then threatened to call the police if the noise was not kept down after 10 P.M. The author apparently has taken issue with not only the noise level but the choice of material, also saying, “stop singing showtunes from ‘Annie’ both of you are way to old to ever be cast as child orphans.” She reads it in the voice she imagines the author to have which is rather creepy and masculine.

One thing is for sure. Rebel Wilson is a versatile actress who can move from indie drama to big budget Michael Bay extravaganzas, television to film and back again. Expect to keep laughing with her for many years to come.
