The Birth Tinsel & Tine!

I’d like to thank all my friends and family who were with me during the labor pains of birthing a new name for my blog. I was given some good suggestions: “Film Bites”, “Restaurant and Reels”, “Dip My Toe”, “Cinema Gastronomique”, “Cineatsta”,”Hungry Eyes” and a few others.

I actually only got two enthusiastic responses to Tinsel & Tine, so I was going to go with majority rules and set about buying the domain filmbites.net, but at the checkout, I changed my mind; it just didn’t seem to have any ME in it. And blogging is all about the blogger, it’s a very narcissistic endeavor; I think that’s why there are so many damn blogs!

You may ask did “Suck My Pretty Toes” have ME in it? Well, come warm weather, judging people’s feet in sandals and flip flops is one of my favorite summer pastimes; but this had nothing to do with the name, at least not consciously. The name actually came because of a class I was taking in Data Comm. Our Instructor was going to be away and left us an assignment to create a Blog. I wasn’t into it at all, I really felt it was a waste of time and just busy work. So choosing an unorthodox name seemed like a fun rebellion; and like a naughty child, I later learned my lesson. Who would have thought that I would start blogging full-time and need a respectable and relevant name?

So Tinsel & Tine was born – in case you missed it, the name is a play on Tinseltown using the tines of a fork.
