GOLDEN GLOBES MINI RECAP

I couldn’t find a free trial for Paramount Plus this year, so I went with the free trial of Fubo.tv on YouTube to watch the Golden Globes which I WILL be cancelling. Can’t imagine spending $70 a month for the crap I could see on Network TV, if the antenna in my area was strong enough to get a signal.
The Red Carpet stairs were an interesting addition, it had something to do with the hotel being renovated, but it was giving mini Met Gala. These were my favorite #RedCarpetMoments :

Congrats to TEYANA TAYLOR winning Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for (click for T&T #MiniMovieReview) ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER. She’s been killing it fashion wise since Awards season begun, but she really slayed in this cutout Schiaparelli gown. Perfect for her super cut figure.

Beautiful sentiment to end her speech: “to my Brown sisters and little Brown girls watching tonight”: “Our softness is not a liability. Our depth is not too much. Our light does not need permission to shine. We belong in every room we walk into. Our voices matter and our dreams deserve space.”Teyana Taylor

Kate Hudson’s
Amani Prive gown is a mix of Old Hollywood and the Roaring 20’s. She’s absolutely stunning in it. If you haven’t yet, check out my review of her recent movie SONG SUNG BLUE

This was not Elle Fanning‘s red carpet look, this was her Vivienne Westwood presenting gown. It’s so romantic and fairy-like. As if it were made of starlight shimmering on her alabaster skin. See my review of her recent movie SENTIMENTAL VALUE – for which Stellan Skarsgård won Best Supporting Actor – Motion Picture.

Chase Infiniti in Louis Vuitton. This was perhaps a bit mature for her, but so creative and elegant. Looks like something regal a wicked queen would wear out of a Grimms’ Fairy Tale. ONE BATTLE AFTER ANOTHER was our Philadelphia Film Critics Circle choice for Best Director and Best Film of the year too. Personally, I wanted SINNERS to win our categories and the #GoldenGlobes2026 not because I don’t like One Battle, I do, and admire Paul Thomas Anderson; but why did this movie have to come out the same year as SINNERS, which would have cleaned up without this more established competition.

Thought Nikki Glazer did a good job keeping things relevant and yet not too controversial or too roast-like in her opening monologue.

The running commentary by Marc Malkin, a culture editor at Variety, and Kevin Frazier, a co-host of “Entertainment Tonight” didn’t draw my attention during the show, but I saw many consider it to have been a draw back of the evening 🤷🏾‍♀️

Cute moment when Stephen Graham who won for Best Actor – Limited Series ADOLESCENCE – Shouted out Queen Latifah in the audience before leaving the stage, just cause he was star struck seeing her.

Surreal THE STUDIO and Seth Rogan winning after just recently watching their Golden Globes episode. I thought surely someone was going to shout out “Sal Saperstein!”

As an avid #PODCAST listener I don’t mind the added category.Winner: Good Hang with Amy Poehler. Although, it would have been better if only non-celebrity shows were nominated to make it fair. But what I don’t like is the elimination of the Carol Burnett Award during the ceremony. I didn’t wanna catch SJP’s (Sarah Jessica Parker) acceptance speech on Instagram stories,  it should have been a part of the main event!

Let’s see what the rest of the #awardseason brings…
