Leeway Foundation Screening: MAYA ANGELOU AND STILL I RISE
by Le Anne Lindsay, Editor The Leeway Foundation presented a film event at the Community College of Philadelphia which featured the documentary MAYA ANGELOU AND STILL I RISE by filmmakers Bob Hercules and Rita Coburn Whack. Featuring interviews with Dr. Angelou, Oprah Winfrey, Common, President Bill Clinton and rightful President Hillary Clinton. What a full and inspiring life Dr. Maya Angelou lead as a singer, dancer, activist, poet, writer and director. SONG TO SONG
I enjoy movies set inside the music scene like: Almost Famous, Crazy Heart, Walk the Line, Inside Llewyn Davis, La La Land, even The Runaways, with Dakota Fanning and Kristen Stewart playing Cherie Currie and Joan Jett, it's pretty bad, but still has something to recommend it. These movies depict some aspect or time period of the music industry.

Philly Interview: DAMIEN CHAZELLE – LA LA LAND
By Tinsel & Tine Editor, Le Anne Lindsay Damien Chazelle, the writer/director of Whiplash, and his collaborative partner, composer Justin Hurwitz have created a beguiling, unapologetically romantic homage to classic movie musicals in LA LA LAND (opening film of the 25th Philadelphia Film Festival – click for T&T coverage). The opening scene, a single continuous shot shows a traffic jam in L.A., where all of the drivers emerge from their vehicles and break into song and dance. The film shouts to the audience that this is a throwback to old-school Hollywood musicals, thus, resulting in the audience understanding to view the film with a suspension of disbelief from the beginning.…
