5 Questions for Philly Filmmaker – Adam Lippe
Synopsis: On the hottest day of the year, an unknown virus spreads throughout inner-city Philadelphia. The infected victims, crazed by dehydration, begin attacking other residents of the neighborhood in gruesome ways. When the military is brought in to contain the situation, but realize they can’t come up with a vaccine quickly enough, they fence off the area and let everyone die.

I WANNA DANCE WITH SOMEBODY Whitney Houston Biopic to be helmed by Black, Female Director Stella Meghie
Filmmaker Stella Meghie (Jean of the Joneses, Everything, Everything , The Weekend, The Photograph ) is shaking up Hollywood. Now, a newly minted Academy member with four films under her belt, this writer-director is taking on an ambitious new project: Whitney Houston’s life story! “It’s so strange to think that the teen girl with ‘I’m Every Woman’ playing over and over in her head, running down the hallway, now gets to direct the movie about Whitney’s life. That is very surreal.” The film, titled I Wanna Dance With Somebody, (screenwriter Anthony McCarten (Bohemian Rhapsody) has not yet been cast, but shooting is slated to begin next spring. Radioactive (Marie Curie Story)
Like so many historical biopics, most recent example “Tesla” “Radioactivity” feels surface, too many montages to depict passage of time, too glossy. I’d really like to see a gritty movie about a notable person of history. One that’s intriguing and reflective of the person, not just marking beats of their life’s résumé. And one not so romanticized and glamorized.
