B. PHL Film Fest

The B. PHL Film Fest presented by 5 Shorts Project is back for its second year and we’re looking to highlight more filmmakers from around the region and beyond. Last year’s film fest had some amazing short films, including an official Tribeca Film Fest selection! This year, we want to show more short films in even more genres during all 3 days of B. PHL, September 29- October 1.

5 Shorts Project

The 5 Shorts Project of CultureTrust Greater Philadelphia is a digital media and performing arts training program that is owned and operated by Shameka Sawyer, an African American filmmaker in Philadelphia, PA. They teach individuals how to produce video, film, and theatre content via hands-on training. Their mission is to empower underserved communities with the skills to create media that represents diverse cultures in society via the arts. The project has no formal funding source.

All films should be under 30-minutes. Accepted filmmakers will be notified by August 13, 2021.

The application deadline is 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 1, 2021.

B. PHL Film Fest is part of the B.PHL INNOVATION FEST September 29 – October 1, 2021

An annual three-day innovation celebration started in 2019 to highlight Philadelphia as a fantastic place to live and work; to create meaningful connections locally and globally between people and organizations doing innovative work; and ignite new ideas and inspire changemakers of the future.

As 2020 taught us, we’re all in this together – and by this, we mean everything and everyone. From the ingenuity that helped safely roll out effective vaccines faster than ever before to working together to lift voices, help others, and see different perspectives, each of us had a front-row seat to the remarkable power of innovation coupled with collaboration.

B. PHL Fest 2021, will focus on unity and collaboration, awakening the innovative spirit in all of us and encouraging attendees and participants to learn, listen, connect and discover new ways to think, re-think, create, and activate change. A knowledge laboratory of sorts, the 3-day series of events, workshops, concerts, and interactive experiences provides opportunities to hear from and meet with a diverse array of leaders, influencers, and changemakers in entertainment, science, engineering, non-profits, and more. This year’s tracks include:

Collaboration + Partnerships
Diversity + Perspectives
Rebound + Growth
