Blog Contributor: BRICK MANSIONS
by Monique Steans, Contributor
Brick Mansions (Director Camille Delamarre screenwriter Luc Besson); is action-packed from the start! Parkour, guns, & car chases, with a little laugh here and there. These things kept my blood pumping throughout the film. The plot keeps you wondering if the characters we’re supposed to trust, really have our interest at heart, so much so, that oddly enough, you end up rooting for people you don’t expect…
The late PAUL WALKER plays a cop trying to do the right thing, and avenge his father’s (also a police detective) death. – Paul will truly be missed. This was an intense and arresting performance. Attesting to the fact that he had merely began to tap the potential of his career before his untimely demise. Known mainly for his roles in the Fast & the Furious film series. He was the “it boy” for action films in the early to late 2000s and considered a good guy on & off the film sets, including Brick Mansions. In another posthumous role, Paul played a father who struggles to keep his infant daughter alive in the wake of Hurricane Katrina in Hours, and the final FAST & FURIOUS 7…
THR reports that F&F7 director James Wan and writer Chris Morgan are tweaking the script in a way that they can use what footage of Walker they already shot (about half the film), while also creating a send off for Walker’s character Brian that would still allow the franchise to continue. The film has currently been pushed back to April 10, 2015 to allow the cast time to grieve and the necessary changes to be made- Screen Rant READ MORE
RZA ‘s character Termaine Jackson, is known to everyone “inside” as ruthless drug kingpin. Rza is originally known for being one of the founding members of Wu-Tang Clan, but this man wears many hats – actor, film composer and director. At one time slated to be a character in Kill Bill Vol. 1 & II, he & Quentin Tarantino decided he’d write the film score instead. The last film he wrote/scored/starred & directed was in conjunction with Eli Roth & Tarantino The Man With The Iron Fist.
DAV BELLE plays a con man with a vendetta against the leader of Brick Mansion. He ends up with a price on his head, while attempting to stay straight and eventually get out of the drug game. His character really ends up stealing the film watching his fit body practice the art of Parkour, which is truly a key element to the film. No other upcoming roles are slated for Bell as yet.
Monique’s T &T’s LAMB Score: 4 outta 5
Monique’s bio: I’ve been watching movies as long as I can remember. Since 2010, I’ve been exclusively going to the top three indie theatres in Philly, The Ritz Bourse, Ritz 5, & Ritz East. With the exception of an occasional mainstream flick at regular Philly movie theatres. To me, there’s nothing like relaxing in the dark with a popcorn & chocolate, & escaping the mundane world. There’s nothing more comforting than getting lost in rich/dramatic or even terrifying factious worlds. Today’s world is obsessed with celebrity. I can’t help but get obsessed with indie film stars/starlets. Nowadays, I find myself fawning over the likes of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Ellen Page, Jason Schwartzman, & Jared Leto. Not only do these celebrities have “star power” but have a kind of “down to earth” appeal. These attributes, help me to believe that not every celebrity is spoiled or used their powers negatively. The independent film world is exclusive, at times, with a down to earth appeal. At times, when I’d like think of myself that way. Sweet, quirky, & shy at times. Music like film, helps me to believe that I’ve found a place where I belong.
