Empire Talk Week 10: Sins of the Father (Fox TV)

Quick Recap/Highlights and Around the Web with Empire
Can’t wait for next week’s 2hr finale airing March 18, 2014. No matter what movie screening is taking place, I’ll be home watching Empire. The March 4th episode notched a staggering 5.8 rating (14.3 million total viewers), making it this season’s top-rated drama on broadcast television!
#Empire Why didn’t Jamal get a paternity test before gett’n all attached to that little girl? pic.twitter.com/5uZIPlTHxy

I was surprised they wrapped up the storyline with Jamal and his little girl Lola so fast, with the ultimate shocker being Lucious is actually Lola’s father! I wish we could see a longer flashback of when all this went down; cause why would Lucious have interfered in Jamal & Olivia’s (Raven-Symoné in a terrible wig) relationship, if she was the one woman Jamal was interested in – seeing as he so desperately wants his son to be straight?
And why did he let Olivia take his daughter away? You’d a thought he’d have figured out a way to pay her off years ago, and keep the baby, claiming her as his “granddaughter”. Oh, but that’s right no one knew she was pregnant. At any rate…
Please don’t do that soap opera thing and age Lola 10 years next season so she can be a new #Empire artist @empirewriters

I do believe in his heart, Lucious wants Cookie as his wife, not just because he’s dying; but he’s gotta play so many angles. If Anika hadn’t betrayed him, he’d still be marrying her. So he messed up any reunion possibilities with Cookie. But the master manipulator thought he could buy Cookie back with shares of the company, so she’d accept his marriage proposal. But Cookie’s moved on. I’m so glad she can now say she’s been with another man besides Lucious Lyon and ooh, she got a sexy, young one, that Malcolm is hot!

Cookie resisted hearing that her oldest son Andre suffers from mental illness, but she was there supporting him; she doesn’t like Camilla getting her claws into Hakeem, but she was gonna give it time to play itself out. And she just supports Jamal either way, out or in. Which is why she was so right when she told Lucious that he needs to be a better father. He didn’t go to the hospital to see Andre, just blatantly told Hakeem that he sent Camilla packing, and he can’t see Jamal beyond his sexuality. But as bad as all that is, he’s going to regret dissing Vernon and making it seem like he hasn’t been a valuable part of building Empire all these years. And wait, what’s this about Vernon and Andre? I thought he just sees him as the son he never had, is there more to it than that?
This week’s 2nd guest appearance was Jennifer Hudson as a Christian sex … I mean music therapists for Andre. Love the scene of her unexpected invitation for… prayer.
“This might be against hospital rules” that’s a damn intimate contact for prayer. #Empire

After Malcolm save his Cookie by killing the “Scary Bird” between the eyes. The next day she says to him let’s go away together and he’s like, okay let’s do that, but isn’t he on duty? How’s he gonna get vacation time already. Luscious will shot him between the eyes if he finds out he’s sweet on Cookie.
Empire airs Wednesday nights 9pm. Fox 29 in Philly following American Idol. See you next week!
