What Moment Would You Choose? – NINE DAYS

    August 11, 2021 /

I know Winston Duke from his role as M'Baku in Black Panther/Infinity War, and as the Dad, complete with dad jokes, in Jordan Peele's US, but I don't remember feeling like his lips were particularly compelling, for some reason they are in this movie. I kept feeling like I wanted to kiss him and I'm not usually attracted to very full lips on a man...

TRIBECA Online Film Festival Coverage 2021

    August 4, 2021 /

After over a decade of covering films, this will be my first experience with TRIBECA FILM FESTIVAL (June 9-20th) Disgraceful on my part I know, seeing as it's only 2 hrs tops from Philly.  I just never got it together to either go for the day, or commute a few days, spend on accommodations or impose on an acquaintance.  The great thing is this year I don't have to do any of that, God do I love these Virtual Film Festivals, it just feeds the  introvert in me! #TribecaAtHome

10th Anniversary BLACKSTAR FILM FESTIVAL COVERAGE- August 4-8, 2021

    August 3, 2021 /

BlackStar Film Festival is celebrating it's 10th year with both in-person and for virtual screenings and events.  It’s a major turning point for a festival that has come to be recognized as a significant celebration of the visual and storytelling traditions of the African diaspora, as well as of global communities of color.  BlackStar Film Festival always turns out to be one of the highlights of my summer.  I may not have fully covered all 10, but I've always attended at least a screening or opening night party.  See below for links to T&T past coverage...

    RESPECT (Aretha Biopic)

    July 30, 2021 /

RESPECT is a very music driven biopic. We get to hear almost in their entirety, so many iconic hits and see so many wonderful concert recreations. The costume designer Clint Ramos will definitely get an Oscar nom along with hair and makeup. I wanted to ask Jennifer Hudson during the Press Conference, if she got to wear any of the Queen's actual clothing, but my question...

My Name is Pauli Murray in theaters Sept 17, 2021

    July 28, 2021 /

Fifteen years before Rosa Parks refused to surrender her bus seat, a full decade before the U.S. Supreme Court overturned separate-but-equal legislation, Pauli Murray was already knee-deep fighting for social justice. A pioneering attorney, activist, priest and dedicated memoirist, Murray shaped landmark litigation—and consciousness— around race and gender equity.
