    I wanted the movie “Australia” to do well in the box office for two reasons: I love big, sweeping, epic love stories and Baz Lurhman is really adorably sexy! However, it doesn’t appear as if his 100 million dollar dream come true is box office gold. There’s been very little buzz during or since Thanksgiving. I saw it in a nearly empty theater, normally at Christmastime all movie showings are relatively full. It’s been more than 10 years since “Titanic”, I would think audiences would be hungry for a film of this romantic scope and feel.     Fear(s) of the Dark

    Art Imitates Fear(s) of the Dark is an example of why I think there should be a sliding scale price for certain genres of movies/films, rather than the time of day you attend the showing. This film is very creative, a little disturbing, a boon for the participating artists, and not at all worth $8.50. The film is an animated feature of six shorts by illustrators and comic artists (Blutch, Marie Caillou, Pierre de Sciullo, Lorenzo Mattotti, Richard McGuire, and Charles Burns).     This is a heart wrenching story of a woman, Christine Collin's (Angelina Jolie) quest to find her missing son, who disappears while she's at work without a trace. The LAPD police Captain J.J. Jones (Jeffrey Donovan) shows little to no concern for Mrs Collin's plight, instead he's willing to force Collins to accept an impostor child as her missing son, in order for the police department to save face in the press. Donovan, so likable in the TBS action show "Burn Notice", is so despicably full of himself in this part, you just want to slap those bunny teeth of his out of his mouth!

    I’m grateful to see this day! Although I didn’t realize I would be so moved. In the primary, I voted for Hillary and reserved my judgement regarding Obama. Then as the election campaigning and debating progressed, I began to admired his calm, poise, confidence and elegance, all things our President should be. Eventually, I came to realize and embraced the importance of his multi-culturalism (white, black, muslim ties, african, hawaiian, indonesian…) which means finally our Country will be represented by “Our Country”.
